I have decided to go to NZ in 2011 with a couple of mates to see the rugby world cup, go skiing and explore the country a bit more.
Just wanting to know where the best places to go are to ski and to see great scenery. also what would be the best bet for transport and accomodation.
Is there anything that you recommend doing while in NZ

I'm not really sure there is a better places to ski, you might wanna go to the South Island as it has a much wider range of places to ski then the North, but i'd think either is a good choice.
The best scenary isn't up in the North. But while you're there for the world cup you can head down to Hamilton and go to the nearby waitomo caves and you could have a guided tour of that and do other activities. Then head down to Rotorua/Taupo, go to the geothermals, huka falls, maori experience.. action and adventure activites like zorbing, jet boating, etc, for some touristy stuff, and you can head up to near by Mount Ruapahu for skiing.
You'll probbaly wanna head down South.. take your pick and try out some different skiing facilties down there in the Southern Alps or just stick to one. Just driving around the South Island you will see some great scenary. Defently go to the Milford sound down there, just the road to it is scenic and so is the Milford Sound it's self, and you can have a cruise of it, and do some kayaking through it. It's supose to be really amazing (haven;t been myself) but defently go! the milford track is also supose to be one of the best walks in the world. Theres also lot's of like.. mirror lakes scattered around the South Island that you'll probbaly run into.
Also you'll want to see the fox or franz glaicer which are along the west coast near Franz Joesph, you can have a scenic flight, or a guided walk along them, or you can just see them from afar.
You'll want to visit/stay in Christchurch, Wanaka and Queenstown. There really close to the mounts, Christchurch has lots of wildlife atrractions and the antartic centre if you're interested in that, plus the nearby town Kaikoura has one of the best whale watching spots in the world. Queenstown is the adventure capital so you'd want to do something there, plus Lake Wakitupu there is really nice and the nearby Glenorchy.
If you wanna see some more great scenary, theres lots of walking tracks around, you can do the Abel tasman (bush and coast/beach scenic) track, which you can cruise around by boat too.
Also the Queen charlotte track which explores the Marborough sounds.
Another place is Nelson lakes which you could explore too.
Mount Aspring has some walks, the routeburn track i think is the main one, but this is up in the Southern alps so you'll see lots of mountain scenary, bush, lakes, glaciers, etc.
Theres also a scenic train that goes from Christchurch to Greymouth which is quite scenic and one of the best train journeys in the world. http://www.tranzscenic.co.nz/services/tranzalpine.aspx
Hmm.. You may want to stick with hostels to keep it budget, if you're doing tracks you can camp over in huts and even tent camping.
You may want to get a car insteed of using buses for getting around, as it might be cheaper or about the same since you guys can split for paying for a rental car.

Is there a way for me to have my wedding like this in New Zealand?

We live in new Zealand and i am trying to plan my wedding for 2015. We know exactly what we want our wedding to be.
We want the ceremony to be close to a beach/river "water".
I want to be married under a gazebo tent with 2walls on either side walking up the red carpet aisle while guests are seated on either sides of the aisle.
Here's the main reason im asking for advice.........
The reception is going to be just outside of the gazebo by at least 15ft away. everyone will follow down a home made path way to a 4ft bonfire and another 3wall gazebo as our reception room/dance room. There will be a barbecue going outside, food and beverages tables will be inside the gazebo lining 2 of the walls and the 3rd back wall will be reserved for the wedding party table and chairs and cake table.
Does it sound like we can have this wedding? i know we are going to have to get a fire permit but does this seem possible to you? And we only have a 10,000 budget. :\ any tips or advice you be a huge help.
my main concern is not with the plans for the wedding, its more of how can i achieve this wedding? 4ft-bonfire near the beach is supposed to be illegal, so just dont really know where to start. and it makes it harder to find a venue for the ceremony and reception when you bring the 4ft-bonfire into it.

Hmm.... sounds nice, but as far as all the measurements and stuff like that? Maybe you should relax a little and be flexible. You'll enjoy it much more. Maybe you'll have more money saved up by then (or less!) - it is four years out, after all.
