When it comes to tabloid and celebrity photographers (think Paparazzi), in regards to someone's personal privacy, just how much intrusion is too much intrusion?
Considering things like chasing vehicles for a shot, climbing walls of private property to take pictures in sheltered yards or in windows, risking physical confrontations in public places, is it really worth it for photographers to go through all that trouble along with them disrespecting and irritating people in the process?
Are some photographs really that necessary or important? Does anyone have any opinions or stories or theories on any of this that they would like to share?

I do not believe that celebrities should be subjected to what in my mind amounts to stalking. Yes, they're famous, and they should expect to be approached for autographs, photographs, etc., when they go to public places. To some extent. I believe there are some things autograph seekers and photographers should refrain from doing - like I think a celebrity should be able to eat a meal in peace. Catch him or her coming or leaving, but don't be going up to their table during the meal.
Also, celebrities should be able to expect privacy in their own homes and on their own property. I personally believe they should be able to expect privacy when it can only be invaded by a telescopic lens or aircraft. It is unreasonable that someone cannot go to a beach on private property or have a family event on private property and not be photographed, often unknowingly, by photographers with telescopic lenses. Also, some celebrities have tried to hold weddings and the media was "attacking" the event with aircraft!
Most celebrities, I believe, will cooperate with fans and media as long as everything remains civil. When a person is asked to STOP photographing, etc., then they should stop. It should never get to the point where people are being chased, shoved, followed in cars, etc. When paparazzi are sneaking onto property, hiding themselves and cameras, etc. this is just wrong. Any person should be entitled to know if and when they are being photographed and should not have to be on "display" 24/7.
Celebrities have "made" themselves famous and therefore have to expect a lot of interest in them. Especially if they are beautiful, have a lot of public romances, etc. But they should be able to have a private life as well.
Some famous people choose to live in regular towns where they are not harassed all the time - the people where they live are used to them and, since they see them a lot, are not "awed" when they come into the grocery store or library, etc.
So by visiting the "hot spots" and making themselves very visible, some celebrities may be viewed as "asking for it" (and some may like that much attention). But when the famous person indicates they want to be left alone, they should be left alone.
In answer to the question "is it worth it"? Apparently it is. The first pictures of a celebrity's new baby can bring in tens of thousands of dollars. But it is the general public that makes this so. If "we" weren't slurping this up, the tabloids woudn't be printing it and paying such high prices for it.

There is a Humane Society and a SPCA in every state in continental US. In almost every county, too.
If you can't find one, you can get involved with helping wildlife.
Get birdfeed and feed/watch birds from your yard, put out cat food when the stray cats are likely to come through your yard, offer to walk someone's dog.
You could even advertise dog walking in the local paper or on Craigslist.
Start reading about how to care for baby birds, etc. and maybe you can get involved with saving marine life?
Or take up marine biology in college so you can live near the beach and help animals who get caught in soda can rings, or washed up along the shore, etc.
Respond to the next natural disaster by contacting agencies that are involved... ask if you can volunteer to help.
