I'm going to vacation with my family in July and we are staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel by Waikiki Beach. Is that a safe beach to swim in and play in? Also is the area safe for kids (15, 16)? General information about that area is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Waikiki Beach is a legendary tourist zone on the south shore of Oahu in Hawaii: a 2-mile sweep of surf and shore below Diamond Head.

What's special about Waikiki Beach:

Waikiki Beach is the most-developed tourist area in Hawaii, with:

Waikiki Beach History:

What is a good beach to take a toddler to in Orange County?

. I live in California... looking into orange county beaches.
I have a baby sis and we want to go to the beach this weekend... My mom doesn't like the beaches where it's hard to LUG around a bunch of stuff up and down everywhere... is there anywhere that we don't have to deal with this problem?

somewhere with shops just in case we need something for the baby? Help

Best toddler beach on a weekday is 9th Street, on the Newport peninsula, on the Bay side. No fire pits, no hazards, very gentle (almost flat) slope into the water, and you're on the bay, so no waves. Because it's not a bay-side beach, it's not heavily trafficed - mostly mom's with small kids. Downside is there's no parking lot, just street parking, so weekends are tough. However, you can pull up to the curb, carry your stuff 5 feet, and you're on the beach. There isn't anything in this section of the peninsula to draw tourists, so even on weekends, you can *usually* find parking within reasonable walking distance.


If you can be there early, Corona Del Mar is a great choice. There's a SMALL beachside parking lot (thus the caveat to be there early), food stand, bathrooms, and the nearby tidal pools provide a fun, educational adventure. The beach is sheltered, so the waves are generally pretty small, but if the surf is too rough, there's also a bay-facing beach for lake-like calm water.

Finally, (and again, this is all focused on toddler-friendly beaches), there's Newport Dunes - a lagoon on the backbay. Big flat beach, playground area, food, bathrooms - and because it's a shallow lagoon, the water is significantly warmer than the open-ocean beaches. It's a private facility, so there's a fee. But last time I checked it was only $10 - and since it's paid access, parking isn't a problem.

So yeah. We all get bored during the summer... I think I miss school, I'm not kidding. I liked doing homework for some reason. Does anybody have ideas that'll help you learn, or like things to fill out, or just something to keep you busy that's kind of like school?

draw a very nice detailed picture,
make something cool like a paper puppy out of paper and cardboard
go to the beach with your friends,
go swimming or have a pool get together
throw an awesome party with a theme and invite all your friends
try to impress your friends and family with a talent show.
go outside with any siblings and play ball
paints your finger nails and toenails ( if your a girl )
research all about animals like puppies, birds, and cats
go to the park and make a new friend
go to the pet shelter and volunteer
go shopping at your favourite shopping mall
try to learn some new COOL things ( ex: how to make pups like u )
watch some episodes of your favourite TV show.
go buy netflix and watch your favourite movie with popcorn.
make up your own lil recipe. ( something like ketchup cake ) :p make sure its SAFE to eat .
go outside and enjoy the scenery
play your favourite computer games
go to youtube and search up videos of puppies playing.
act like a angel and hypnotize your mom into getting u a pet
try to act really weird and annoy your siblings
write your own amazing song and record yourself singing it
go to your dad and borrow five bucks. go to the dollar store and buy lil mini toys
throw a birthday party for earth :p
have a stare contest with someone.
make up a secret handshake
get a bag of chips and have a eating contest
bounce on your bed till its all ruined
go on youtube and search up really funny videos
gon on your bed and think about all the things happening in your life
decorate your room
take some photos of special things and people and make a scrapbook
sing a song or dance to songs or do both
answer some questions on yahoo answers
go join club penguin and play!
snuggle up with your puppy and teach it tricks
do chores for your parents so they get u a gift!

I'm strongly considering home-schooling my child. What benefits are there vs public or private schooling? Do you find that you have better control of your kids (discipline wise)? Do you find that your kids have better manners?

I really need some honest opinions. I went to public school myself and hated it. Please no mean comments.

I would take a quick drive to Ocean beach, Mission Beach, or Pacific Beach, or anything north of there. Any of the beaches, instead of the harbor, which is where shelter Island is. The further north you go, the better the neighborhoods get. I would not go to OB or Mission beach at night; too many gangs. They are fun spots and very pretty, but go during the day, as there are too many party kids there. Locals call Pacific beach "PB" Ocean beach "OB" and Imperial beach "IB" etc. But don't go to imperial beach; too far and too close to mexico, so you get the sewer releases in their waters-- too close to home here in the US. I'd love to have more ideas than just the beach and the library. We have some little trips and day trips planned, but what other good ideas for school aged kids?

Let's see. My kids are going bowling tomorrow.

We have lots of different parks around here - and one with interactive water fountains to run through - we go there a lot.

Swimming, sprinklers.

Children's museums.

Find somewhere to go horseback riding.

Make a book of nature in your neighborhood - take photos and label what types of trees, insects, animals they are.

Volunteer to walk dogs at your local animal shelter.

Go to a baseball game or other sporting event

Look into day camps - YMCA usually has educational and inexpensive ones

Make pet rocks
