why does everyone seem to be wondering why muslims are so quick to commit suicide?
Q. Just a thought.
No beer, No bars, No radio, No television, No Playboy or Penthouse, No Teasers, No cricket, No rugby, No football, No basketball, No baseball, No golf, No dancing, No music, No bikinis on the beach, No nude beaches No summer mini skirts and braless beauties, No BBQ pork, No Ham, No bacon No hot dogs, No burgers, No lobster, shellfish, or even frozen seafood sticks, No Christmas.
Rags for clothes and towels for hats, Constant wailing from the guy next door because he's sick and there are no doctors, Constant wailing from the guy in the tower, You can't shave, Your wife can't shave, You can't shave your wife, Sand is everywhere, Sand gets into everything, You wipe your backside with your left hand without toilet paper, You can't shower to wash off the smell of donkey cooked over burning camel dung.
The women have to wear baggy dresses and veils at all times, Your bride is picked by someone else, She smells just like your donkey, and your donkey has a better disposition.
Then your leaders tell you that when you die, you get the 27 virgins and it all gets better! Nope.... no mystery here!!!

Love your question and gave it a star for interesting. You gave this a lot of thought and the "items" discussed are all true! That makes it even worse to think about because there's no work, no education, no real family life or sense of community. Their Imams tell them to take what they say as the "truth of the Koran" when they, themselves cannot read and are not educated. It's an oral religion that has been bastardized by radical, uneducated, desperate people looking for something in their horrible lives. So, no I'm not surprised because most of them have been brain-washed by their religious leaders.
Edit added to Aristocrat II --Maybe in the 5th Century but not in the 20th or now. Women have nothing unless they are married to extremely wealthy men who gave it to them! Quoting the Koran" now means nothing as the modern Muslim uses abridged versions. You can read about it on religious sites. Certain countries have their own versions like Yemen, Libya and Iran. In fact the Sunnis and Shities each have their own! So what you say is a "Fairy Tale" idea of Islam.
What you described are mainly men but women have it worse. I was in Egypt in mid-October & the dry heat was intense & men walked around in tee shirts & Cotton pants or jeans while the women had their heads, necks, arms and legs covered in burkas. Going down the Nile, we saw people bathing themselves & their children on the banks; further down we saw others throwing in their garbage. When you digest this, please realize that Egypt is one of the most "Westernized & Modern places" in the Middle East but also one of the poorest. What can anyone expect from despotic rulers that forbid their people from the basic freedoms, pleasures as well as necessities such as food, shelter & clothing? With the age of instant communications, world wide TV, movies and computers, most people are seeing how the rest of the world has lived for a long time and how far they've come compared to themselves.
Most people in the world treasure life; but Muslims seem to discard it without a second though. I truly turned against them even before 9/11 when infighting between Sunnis and Shities committed attrocities against people at hospitals, funerals, cemetaries, weddings, schools and places of worship even Mosques. That did it for me.
