Any free parking places in Myrtle Beach?

AJ

My friend and I are driving to Mrytle on Friday and sleeping in the car (no $ for rent). Does anyone know some good parking places that are free and preferrably near the area with Skywheel?

Answer
Sleeping in your car is illegal (go to jail illegal) in Myrtle Beach. All of the parking near the skywheel (and anywhere else in the city limits) is metered and most of it is closed/no parking after about 1AM. That's also a really good neighborhood to be robbed in come about 3AM. Sleeping on the beach and in public parks is also illegal here overnight.

Safer (though still illegal and not entirely safe) would be one of the 24 hour stores such as a WalMart or a big grocery. You might go unnoticed better and not get robbed. Even better, a tent campground space at one of the campgrounds or the state park. Either way, don't sleep in the car with the engine running and the windows up.

Add:
* about parking - http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/meters.html
* about sleeping on the beach - http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/beachlaws.html (see 5-19)
* for the sleeping in the car thing they get you for either loitering or vagrancy (and perhaps trespassing if they can) plus anything else deputy Bubba can pin at the moment.

Who wants to come with me to the beach?

Just keep

to start a hobo village made of tents and vehicles on the the beach right near the water. We could have a national bank, a bar and a mini walmart, all made of tents.
