Most interesting fish choices for at home?

Q. I would like to buy a fish tank and shelter some aquatic life, but I just don't want to watch a couple of fish swim all the time and do nothing but eat.

Do you know any interesting combination of sea creatures to house in a large fish tank and seen the most activity? (like your housing a small chunk of the beach, but instead it lives inside that tank.)

Any answers?
NOTE: Thank you everyone for replying. All your answers are good. =]

Well if you want "sea" creatures i assume you mean saltwater? then the most interesting thing you can do in my opinion is a reef tank. The limitations are endless but it requires a lot of research and work. You can get some beautiful wrasses, tangs angels ect. There are endless amounts of inverts just be prepared for some effort that needs to be put in on your behalf to maintain such a tank. Otherwise id reccomend sticking with freshwater and still there are many beautiful fish you can do some of my favorites would be the african cichlids and discus fish. A little less work is involved in maintaining that type of tank but still need to do a lot of research and work. Keeping fish isnt easy but if you enjoy doing it than it is very calming and extremely rewarding. Do research and find what type of tank best suits you befor jumping into something and not want to put the time into keeping the fish happy and healthy. If youi have any ideas as far as marine tanks go id be happy to help. when it comes to keeping freshwater id reccomend asking magicman he really knows his stuff as well as a few others on this site. Hope this helps and good luck on your future tank.

I dont know much about the whole kayak thing... can i use any kayak? are there certain types just for waves? is it better when its smaller or bigger? any help would be nice... thanks

Answer
a sit on top style is the preferred one for fishing. mine has a hatch that l can slip my rod into in case l'm concerned about losing my rod in the surf. which, by the way, l only fish areas in the ocean with as little surf as possible. l use mine mostly in f/w or sheltered beaches. near the malibu pier is nice most of the time as is off of santa barbara county beaches.
mine is a 12 1/2 foot "fish n dive" model by "cobra". has a 600lb capacity. it is wide and a stable fishing platform.
and there are other shorter ones for playing in the surf.
