Taking our 2 month old to the beach and need advise?

* <3 Fianc

This friday we're bringing our 2 month old to atlantic city, any tips or recommendations on how to help him to not get burnt? We have a beach tent we're setting up, having a hat on at all times... What else? How old was ur little one when u first brought them to the beach?

Answer
My middle child was 6mos when she first went to the beach, and I think that was the youngest any of my kids were when they went.

Doctors don't recommend much sunblock for babies under 6mos, but they DO recommend using it if the baby has to be in the sun. You might want to get a sunblock stick for his face and hands, and then I would try finding a lightweight pair of pants and long-sleeved shirt or hooded coverup that will provide him some coverage. Sites like One Step Ahead sell beachwear that has SPF built in.

Definitely use a hat, and it may also be a good idea to buy or rent a beach umbrella. It can be positioned near the tent to keep any extra sun out, and can help if you keep him out of the tent for some of the time.

What are good beaches for camping at in CA?

I live in CA and I am planning a camping trip to a beach however I would like to be able to actually setup a tent on the sand and maybe even start a fire pit. I would also like to have a good deal of privacy so probably a beach further away from a city. (I don't like the constant foot traffic, freeway noises and children screaming). What are some good beaches for this?
It would be best if it was in southern CA, however anywhere helps.
The fire is not a big deal, mainly the tenting on the sand closer to the shoreline.

Answer
There is plenty of beach camping in SoCal, but most of it is close to roads and other people. In my experience the sound of the ocean will drown out the traffic noises.

I stayed at Thornhill Broome Beach, and you can set up your tent 10 feet from the water.
