I am an American traveling to Sydney, Australia soon. The flight I have is with Etihad Airways, and stops in Abu Dhabi. I was thinking of getting a day or two layover there and checking out Dubai. I would have to take some form of public transportation between the two cities. Is this advisable? What is the mood like over there? Sucks that I have to ask this question, but...

Answer
Hi, I live in Abu Dhabi and I go to Dubai about every other weekend.. although, I haven't yet taken the public transporation but it should be fine. I also know of taxis that run from AD to Dubai too.

There are great places in Abu Dhabi & Dubai to visit, and it's definitely worth a stay, even if it's a short one.

The shopping in the UAE is great, you can shop in one of the very large, beautiful malls or you can shop in a souk for some atmosphere!

Malls in Abu Dhabi:
Marina Mall (I love this mall, it's on the Marina, and there's a huge fountain in the middle of the mall, and people just sit and watch it, haha)
Abu Dhabi Mall (the biggest mall in Abu Dhabi: Marina Mall is second biggest)
Al Wahda Mall (a little smaller, but the shopping is still good)

Malls in Dubai:
Mall of the Emirates (largest mall in all of the UAE, has Ski Dubai, the world's first indoor ski hill)
Ibn Battuta Mall (is split into 6 main courts, beautiful mall)

Then, other than the malls, there are always the souks to visit. Souk is the arabic word for market. There are the gold souks, which are worth a visit, and also the carpet souk & textile souks are great. You can visit the gold souk in Abu Dhabi in Madinet Zayed.

Both Abu Dhabi have impressive hotels:
In Abu Dhabi there is the Emirates Palace, and it is just amazing. The grounds are so beautiful, and there are all these fountains & the inside's walls are made of gold, oh it's just beautiful. And inside there are little cafes for a light lunch, or an all you can eat buffet (which is expensive, & be careful, on friday's the prices double). Also, there is an exhibit inside about upcoming projects for Abu Dhabi.

Then in Dubai, there is the Burj Al Arab, the 7 star hotel. This one is beautiful too, and worth a visit!

Also, both Abu Dhabi & Dubai have beautiful beaches and it's really nice this time of year.

In Dubai there is the Hatta Heritage Village set in an oasis. There is also a Heritage Village in Abu Dhabi.

Both Dubai & Abu Dhabi offer desert safaris, you can take camel rides & go on the dune buggys on the sand dunes. & then there are the tents with shisha ^.~

Also, if you go to Dubai you have to visit Madinet Jumierah, the restaurants are great, and the scenery is lovely.

Abu Dhabi & Dubai have a lot of projects underway, like the Guggenheim, Le Louvre, the underwater hotel, etc. There are lots of places to see in both emirates, and it's a great experience.

Have fun to your visit in the UAE ~

a couple questions about lost?

Q. where can i watch the first season of lost online? i've seen the first 8 episodes, and im hooked.

and also: a technical question: in the episode "white rabbit" we see the flashback with jack arguing with a woman at the airport in singapore (i think) about his father's coffin. why was he in singapore? his father died in syndey, and the plane that everyone was on was going from los angeles to sydney right? maybe i missed something lol

Answer
WOW, you sound like me two months ago! I watched "Walkabout" one night, and then WAS HOOKED, I rented all of the episodes and watched them every night, but if you want to watch them online go to www.abc.com, and click on watch full length episodes, and they have all the episodes of LOST, even the season 4 ones.

Jack was in Singapore too though! Heres a clip about it:

Following the collapse of his marriage, Jack took a trip to Thailand to relax. While there, he met a mysterious woman named Achara. They became friends and occasionally slept together. Jack tried to find out what she did for a living, but she was very secretive about her work. Jack followed her one night. When he confronted her, Achara told him she saw into people and translated what she saw into tattoos. Jack grew strangely forceful and demanded to know what she saw in him. Achara became very emotional and told Jack she saw him as a leader who, although strong, could also be unhappy. Jack insisted she tattoo him. Achara warned there would be consequences, but gave in. The tattoo that Achara designed on Jack's arm translates to "He walks among us, but is not one of us." The next day, when Jack emerged from his tent on the beach, the people he had befriended earlier attacked him violently. They screamed at him, telling him to leave and never return. As Jack struggled to get up he saw Achara watching sadly from a short distance away. <--- thats what happened in singapore

In "White Rabbit", he wasnt in Singapore! lol. He was in Sydney, Australia because his dad had went there, and died, he was bringing back the body. That was when the plane crashed, in one of the episodes on the island you see him bury his father, but this isnt the last time youll see jacks dad... :D The plane crashed from Sydney to L.A.

www.lostpedia.com, this wesite will explain episodes and characters but i wouldnt go to it yet, it will spoil the rest of the episodes for you! When you are all caught up you can go there!

If you ever get confused about LOST, i go around answering LOST questions like crazy, so ill help you ! :D
