We've been dating for 2 years and I've decided we've grown close enough to pop the question... I bought the ring... Now the timing?..

Answer
My fiance took me camping. We went on a really nice hike and finally stopped at this clearing where we could see mountains and trees. It was gorgeous. The best part was that it had been foggy and over cast all day and as soon as we sat down in that clearing the sun came out. That night it stormed unexoectedky and we were huddled in our tent listening to the rain. It was very romantic and quite a good story! I always recommend nature as the setting because its free ambiance. A lake, beach, a gorgeous park, a nice hike somewhere. Bring a picnic and a couple champagne glasses (get sparkling wine if you can't afford the real thing.) And then just ask. I personally think too much fluff and scavenger hunts and hidden notes and hiding the ring in food is just silly. Proposals can be romantic with the right setting and the right words. No need for a bunch of props.

Is it legal to camp on the side of the road?

Say for instance I want to go for a walk from where I live to the beach that's going to take ten days. Is it legal for me to pop my tent up wherever and spend the night on the side of the road?

What about a little bit far off from the road. I know that the barbwire fences means private property, but I doubt anyone would ever know.

Answer
no that is very illegal
