Do you know of any camping sites...?

Preferably within Sydney or maximum an hour from Sydney.

I have two preferences in mind:
* By the beach. Secluded would be nice [but not holding my breath]; Camp grounds not too far from beach. If you can pitch a tent on the beach .. then that would be nice too. Bonfire? Definitely not holding my breath, but that would be good.

* By a Lake/River. Secluded.

If you know any sites/places that fit the criteria above, let me know. And even if you know of a site that doesn't fit the criteria but well worth the mention ... let me know.

The Redwood Forest in California--near water. Ngs Head near the ocean.I prefer the mountains myself---anything that is interesting though.

Off the top of my head - maybe catch the bus to Narrabeen and stay at the camping ground there. It's a relaxed & quiet location, very near the beach http://www.sydneylakeside.com.au/camping.asp

If you had booked earlier, you might have got a tent spot on Cockatoo Island. It's got a fab view of the sydney harbour, and def worth staying over another time.

Of course, there's always the option of staying at a backpackers, cause there are heaps of choices to stay at.
