Do you know of any camping sites...?

Preferably within Sydney or maximum an hour from Sydney.

I have two preferences in mind:
* By the beach. Secluded would be nice [but not holding my breath]; Camp grounds not too far from beach. If you can pitch a tent on the beach .. then that would be nice too. Bonfire? Definitely not holding my breath, but that would be good.

* By a Lake/River. Secluded.

If you know any sites/places that fit the criteria above, let me know. And even if you know of a site that doesn't fit the criteria but well worth the mention ... let me know.

Answer
The Redwood Forest in California--near water. Ngs Head near the ocean.I prefer the mountains myself---anything that is interesting though.

Camping in Sydney for New year...?

unluckybre

Does ayone know a place to camp or stay for me and my girlfriend for new year?

Answer
Off the top of my head - maybe catch the bus to Narrabeen and stay at the camping ground there. It's a relaxed & quiet location, very near the beach http://www.sydneylakeside.com.au/camping.asp

If you had booked earlier, you might have got a tent spot on Cockatoo Island. It's got a fab view of the sydney harbour, and def worth staying over another time.

Of course, there's always the option of staying at a backpackers, cause there are heaps of choices to stay at.

what time is the best for trip to that place?

Answer
If you talk about the private and extraordinary beach in Krabi , go to Railay Beach. the beach is situated South of Ao-Nang. No road, No car here.
try Railay village Resort, it is peaceful tropical resort in ideal beach location and simply beautiful. This is a super resort for civilized, peaceful couples, both old and young. Two super pools too. Get a long tail fish boat to any of the many islands off shore. http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels%20Map%20Pages/Krabi%20Map/Railay%20Hotel%20Location%20Map.html you'll find glorious sunshine all day in Dec. Yet, because Krabi is sheltered by mountains it is still very cool and breezy especially at night. have a nice trip.

I'm visiting Toronto, Canada in 2 weeks. Can I get some sugestions on places to go and places to eat?

c'mira

I love to try new foods. I love chinese, italian, and thai. I like museums, and parks. And I'm addicted to tv and movies.

Answer
1. DISTILLERY HISTORIC DISTRICT. In just the past few years, The Distillery District has become one of the most romantic and enjoyable destinations in the City. The Distillery District is Torontoâs first pedestrian only village and the cityâs only historic district. From the brick lined streets to the European piazza styled areas, The Distillery District is, as the Globe and Mail asserts, âa picture postcard drawâ.

Like Soho in the 1960âs, The Distillery District has become an area associated with creative thinking and expression. The areaâs rebirth has been dedicated to promoting arts, culture and entertainment. Over the past few years this new landmark facility has attracted the best of the best, including internationally acclaimed galleries, artists from all corners of the arts spectrum, theatres, restaurants, cafes and boutique retailers.

2. TORONTO ISLAND PARK. The islands are located just offshore from the Canadian city of Toronto, and provide shelter for Toronto Harbour. The islands are a popular recreational destination. Bicycles and quadricycles can be rented on the islands.

There are several swimming beaches on the islands, including Centre Island Beach, Gibraltar Point Beach, Hanlan's Point Beach and Ward's Island Beach. Hanlan's Point Beach includes an officially recognized clothing optional section.

3. CHINATOWN. Toronto's Chinatown is an ethnic enclave in Downtown Toronto with a high concentration of ethnic Chinese residents and businesses, extending along Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue. It is now one of the largest Chinatowns in North America and one of several major Chinese-Canadian communities in the Greater Toronto Area.
Its shops and restaurants, including Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai.

4. NIAGARA FALLS are massive waterfalls on the Niagara River, straddling the international border separating the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. The falls are 75 miles (120 km) south-southeast of Toronto, Ontario.

Niagara Falls is composed of two major sections separated by Goat Island: Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side of the border and American Falls on the United States side. The smaller Bridal Veil Falls also is located on the American side, separated from the main falls by Luna Island. While not exceptionally high, the Niagara Falls are very wide. More than six million cubic feet (168,000 m³) of water fall over the crest line every minute in high flow.

The oldest and best known tourist attraction at Niagara Falls is the Maid of the Mist boat cruise, named for an ancient Ongiara Indian mythical character, which has carried passengers into the whirlpools beneath the Falls since 1846. Cruise boats operate from boat docks on both sides of the falls. From the Canadian side, floodlights illuminate both sides of the Falls for several hours after dark (until midnight).
The whole family will be thrilled by Free Pizza Pizza Fireworks over the Falls, every Friday and Sunday from May 18 until September 2, as well as Wednesdays in July and August and Fridays from September 5 to October 10. All displays are scheduled for 10:00 p.m. and are weather dependent.

5. ROGERS CENTRE. Rogers Centre is recognized as one of the world's premiere entertainment centres, which since its spectacular opening on June 3, 1989, has achieved the highest honours in the stadium entertainment industry. Over 2,000 events have been staged and more than 50 million people have visited Rogers Centre - famous the world over for its fully retractable roof.

A unique feature of the Rogers Centre is its Videoboard, one of the world's largest, measuring 110 feet wide by 33 feet high - bringing everyone even closer to the action. Other features include: Premier Fitness, Rogers Centre Tour Experience, Theatre, state-of-the-art broadcast facilities, the Renaissance Hotel, and several restaurants and bars, including the world famous Hard Rock Café.

There was $5 million in artwork commissioned in 1989, located both outside and inside the facility. Canadian artists include Michael Snow, who created The Audience (the portrayal of fans at the northeast and northwest entrances); A Tribute to Baseball, depicting great moments in the long, event-filled history of baseball crafted by Lutz Haufschild appears above the southeast and southwest entrances at Gate 5; The Art of the Possible by Mimi Gellman, is a sculpture of glass and steel located at the north end of the building on Level 100, as a tribute to all of the men and women who built the facility. This sculpture incorporates more than 2,000 signatures of these unsung heroes. Mimi Gellman also decided to commemorate the history of the site - included in the mural are images of some of the artifacts found during excavation, such as musket balls, pottery and bottles from the turn of the century. Two other sculptures displayed outside of the facility are Salmon Run by Susan Schelle and Spiral Fountain by Judith Schwarz.

It is one of Toronto's top three tourist attractions and a model for architects of future domed stadiums currently being built around the world.

6. CITY PASS. Save almost half the price of box office admission to Torontoâs most exciting attractions with Toronto CityPass ($65.28 USD). The pocket-size booklet contains tickets to CN Tower, the worldâs tallest structure; Hockey Hall of Fame; Casa Loma â castle on the hill; Ontario Science Center; The Royal Ontario Museum; and Toronto Zoo. You have nine leisurely days from the day of first use to enjoy admission to each attraction once, and will avoid most ticket lines.

7. MUSEUMS. I recommend you the Bata Shoe Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art and Royal Ontario Museum.

8. CN TOWER. Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is Canada's most recognizable and celebrated icon. At a height of 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches), it is Canadaâs National Tower, the World's Tallest Building, an important telecommunications hub, and the centre of tourism in Toronto.

Located at a height of 342 m (1,122 ft) you will find the Glass Floor and Outdoor Observation Deck.

At 346 m (1,136 ft.) is Horizons Café and the Indoor Observation Deck. Horizons Café offers casual dining for those looking to enjoy a light meal at the top of the world.

360, our award winning fine dining restaurant is located at 351 m (1,150 ft.) and offers guests a complete 360 degree view of the city. The floor in the 360 Restaurant rotates once every 72 minutes allowing you a complete and unobstructed view of the city below. Along with the view 360 also offers an internationally recognized wine cellar of nearly 500 choice labels.

Ann Onimou

When do they usually close for the season? My husband wants to go to Myrtle Beach for our 'summer vacation' but in September when it's a little cheaper. Will the waterparks or most campsite's outdoor pools and water attractions still be open?

If you know of any good places to stay in Myrtle beach (camping in a tent trailer with a toddler for under 30$ a night), that'd be a great help too.

Thanks!

Answer
There is a reason why it is cheaper in the off-season. It is the off-season. Consider where waterparks get cheap, temporary labor: students who are back in school during September. Family Kingdom closure date: September 4.

Myrtle Waves Water Park closure: September 6, 7, 8, 9, then open 10, 11.

Where is the best spot to beach camp in Oregon?

a e

I'm looking for a spot that's somewhat secluded, so as to avoid campgrounds and being kicked off the beach for illegal camping. Northern Oregon or Southern Washington Coast is preferred. Thanks!

Answer
I believe in Oregon you can pitch a tent anywhere along the Coast. No camp ground needed. The obvious Leave no Trace rules apply and a couple of other things. Check out the statement below that I found on this web site:

http://www.romantic-oregon-coast.com/oregon-coast-camping.html

"Thanks to the wonderful Oregon "beach bill," you are allowed to pitch "a tent directly on the beach, but there are a couple rules you need to abide by. First, you cannot camp within view of a home or business and, next, you are strictly forbidden to camp adjacent to a Oregon state park. You may want to check with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for anything else you should know"

m trying to find a quality 3 season 2 person tent that weighs as little as possible. ...Ive found a few i like but if you have other suggestions please make them...... Im planning an around the world trip with a lot of camping, and beach camping so I need quality no-see-um mesh....... Which of these would you chose and why?..... 1. http://www.msrcorp.com/tents/zoid2.asp ..... 2. http://www.sierradesigns.com/tents.display.php?id=14 ..... 3. http://tinyurl.com/2jvg6u ..... 4. http://www.basegear.com/mountain-hardwear-lightpath-2.html .....please dont answer without explaining why you think your suggestion is best.

Answer
Tents are a very personal choice and some people prefer some features over others. One question I would ask is if you are going alone or will be sharing the tent with somebody. Keep in mind that when manufacturers say '2 person tent' they generally assume that each person is about 5 feet tall and weights 90 pounds. If you are sharing with somebody, than it better be somebody you know really well. :)

All of the tents above are respected models from respected manufacturers. One thing to consider if you will be camping on sand, is that the REI Qtr Dome is the only one of the tents above that is completely free-standing - all the others must be staked down to stand up. Free-standing tents are a big plus where the ground is likely to be really loose (sand) or really hard (slickrock). After a few less than ideal experiences with other tents, I always buy free standing ones now.

Another thing to consider if you have lots of gear to protect or it will likely be rainy is the size of the vestibule (the area outside the tent that is still covered by the rainfly) - small ones (like on the Flashlight) are next to worthless, especially if there are two of you.

I have an REI Half-Dome (a slightly larger version of the Qtr Dome) and it is an excellent tent - well designed, well ventilated and roomy. The Qtr Dome has the same attributes, but with a little less space (and weight). If there will be two of you, I would strongly suggest looking at the Half-Dome otherwise if it is just yourself (and you want the extra space), I would recommend the Qtr Dome.

Although it is not on your list, you may also want to consider the Black Diamond HiLight which just got rave reviews in Backpacker Magazines gear guide. It is a freestanding 2 person tent with a large vestibule that weighs in at 3 pounds.

WaterPROOF tent for camping on ocean beach?

Does coleman or any more respected tent makers offer an already waterproofed tent to withstand multi-hour downpours?

I'm sure that Coleman is like the Huffy/Murray of camping gear, so any camping pros out there please let me know whom for to be looking.
Already got reservations, thanks. Had a great old tent heirloomed, lent it to a friend who lent it to a friend... Now we realize that we need a new one and dropping a half thousand on one that we plan on using twice a year is tough right now. The coleman that she got has a way-too-small fly and seems as waterproof as my tee shirts. She's returning it as soon as it dries out. How are Eureka brand tents? Worth buying, seam-sealing and fly-sealing?

Answer
There is no tent that is completely "waterproof". Coleman is a leader in family camping tent gear and their products are treated and seams factory sealed for weather protection so they have a "weather protection guarantee" but that is vague at best. Any tent for it to have good resistance to the weather must be set up correctly and all seams sealed and the material rated or coated with water resistance material. I find that higher end tents have better designs for weather protection and dome style tents the best overall design. Again Coleman meets that need. Here is an article to help you choose a quality tent,
http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/family-base-camping-tent.html

Now you stated you are interested in beach camping. First if you don't have reservations now forget it all beach camping in the state of california is by reservation only 6 months in advance. Next beaches are naturally humid and tents are always damp inside and out in any weather situation specially at night . To help with that you need a tent with very good ventilation. Again Coleman tents meet that need.

@Eureka is no different than Coleman except for tent designs they use the same comparable materials and methods of construction or weather proofing, it's comparing apples to oranges

when is it safe to take a baby to the beach?

I have a five month old baby girl and a 9 year old boy. My son really wants to go to the beach this summer and I'd lke to take him. We live about 20 minutes from the ocean and before the baby came along we'd go about once a week. I'm wondering if my little girl is too fragile to be at the beach. My husband is handicapped so i can't leave the baby home with him.

Answer
I think you should go! We took my daughter at an early age and of course she had a ball.
Here's some ideas that will make it safer for them and less stressful for you.
- lather them up in sunblock 30 minutes before you go (don't forget the top of the ears and head.
- put a sun hat/bonnet on them so the sun rays stay out of their eyes and off of their face
- put a lip balm on their lips so they don't burn
- Bring an umbrella or tent so you can lay them down in the shade
-Bring BABY POWDER! I'm sure you know this, but just in case, sand practically falls off with no problem if you sprinkle baby powder on your skin.
-Bring a few bottles of fresh water for drinking and for flushing out eyes just in case they get sand in their eyes.
- Maybe go later in the evening when its not as hot and the sun isn't so bright. (makes great pictures too!)

You all have fun!

When is it okay to take your newborn to the beach?

Q. We bought a mini-tent that provides SPF 30 and plan to go in the early morning when the sun is not so intense.

Answer
We have been taking our newborn since about 2 weeks old...

We have a couple SPF (I don't know what number) umbrellas.

We throw a blanket down on the ground, and a white sheet on top of that. While my big boys are playing, I hang out under the shade and enjoy the sea breeze with the babe--who is now 12 weeks old:)

We go about once a week.

What are some really good weekend vacation spots in Georgia, USA?

on this spring i plan to build my dog her own housemaybe she ll enjoy ...
beach house shelter image

Scarlett

My boyfriend is a college student and i am graduating high school in 3 weeks. This summer we're planning on going on a vacation together, but obviously it's gotta be really affordable. So we want to be frugal but still have a great time.
Is St. Simons Islands as calm as daytona beach in fl?
I've heard about places like blue ridge, helen, and barnsley gardens but i've never really been anywhere in georgia for vacations.
Need all suggestions!!

Answer
-Fifth Best Vacation Spot in Georgia- Atlanta

Atlanta is certainly the most visited city in Georgia thanks to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Of course this sprawling capital city has much to offer. Fun activities for families and children include Six Flags Over Georgia, the Georgia Aquarium, and Zoo Atlanta. The artsy crowd will enjoy the High Museum of Art, the Fox Theatre, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. If live events are what you seek, plenty can be found at the Georgia Dome, Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood, and Philips Arena. Sports fans lace up for the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta Thrashers, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Lastly, make a conscious effort to visit Stone Mountain Park's night time laser show and sneak over to nearby Athens Georgia's Sanford Stadium, the home of the Georgia Bulldogs.

-Fourth Best Vacation Spot in Georgia - Lake Oconee

About an hour east of Atlanta rests Lake Oconee, Georgia's best kept secret. Of course Lake Oconee boasts excellent fishing, boating, and water sports. There you will can also enjoy seven of the world's finest golf courses designed by the likes of Jack Nicholas and Ben Crenshaw. Fine dining and world class pampering can be found at the Ritz Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation where several of these golf courses are hidden. This quiet lake community comes alive every year when the entire golf world turns its eyes to Augusta, Georgia for the Masters golf tournament.

-Third Best Vacation Spot in Georgia - Cumberland Island

A trip to Cumberland Island is not an event that can be described in words, rather an encounter that must be experienced. First one must board the Cumberland Island Ferry in mainland St. Mary's, Georgia. Once on Cumberland, you will soak in the best unspoiled scenery that nature has to offer. Sprawling, giant live oaks adorned with Spanish moss provide shelter to low lying palmettos. As you move further away from the mainland you will find the ruins of Nathaniel Greene's home and a myriad of wildlife including turkey, deer, and alligators. Further we go and approach undisturbed beaches where wild horses roam. No high rise hotels. Just you and nature the way it was intended. Don't forget to bring food and water for your excursion and camping on the island is available. Once you return to the mainland St. Mary's has everything you need.

-Second Best Vacation Spot in Georgia - North Georgia Mountains

North Georgia is decorated with the spirited Blue Ridge Mountains. Visit fantastic shops in fabulous towns like Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, and Helen. Of course there are scenic log cabins everywhere you turn available for rent year round. Here you can also hike the Appalachian Trail which begins in Springer Mountain, Georgia and ends in Mount Katahdin, Main.e. Don't miss Chateau Elan in Braselton, Georgia and experience world class spa treatment, golf, dining, lodging, and winery. One can truly find peace and relaxation in this enchanted region.

-The Best Vacation Spot in Georgia - Savannah/ Tybee Island, Georgia

Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia are a remarkable combination of fun, relaxation, and scenery.

Start your day with a scenic drive out to Tybee Island. Spend the day in the sun on Tybee's beaches and mingle with the very friendly locals. At dusk, stop by the Crab Shack on your way back in. It's "Where the elite eat in their bare feet!". Once back in Savannah, take stroll down the cobblestoned River Street which houses night clubs, restaurants, and gift shops. There will also be plenty of live music and street performers as you watch the moon gleam on the Savannah River. Make sure you stop at Wet Willie's for a frozen treat. Beauty, atmosphere, and culture make Savannah and Tybee Island the best vacation spot in Georgia.

Answer
8 Significant Elements to start working on your own Home Based Business.

1. Home Based Businesses boom right across the continent and also worldwide ---
There is no more corporate nor an employee loyalty; corporate greed is looking after its own interests only; many a CEO is performing very poorly but still getting paid huge salaries and benefits, many a time closing their doors in over night manner, vide just recent ATA airliner. There will be many more to follow.

2. Ever increasing high risk of being unemployed ---
Itâs been said over and over again that the greatest financial risk a person could take in life is to work for someone else. Just have a look how many older people work at fast food joints flipping burgers to supplement their pensions or simply forced to do so for they experienced a rude awakening of not having company pension at all or being fully dependent on the illegal pyramid made legal --- Social Services or Old Age Pension.

3. Low investment to start the Home Based Business and much lower risk ---
High return on individual efforts; very high income potential; no special licensing required, no franchise costs or fees; team support and most of all, inexpensive affordable access to relevant education.

4. Open to everyone, with equal pay for women ---
This reason, in my opinion being one of the most important. Home Based Business is open to labourers, skilled people, tradesmen, teachers, nurses, medical practitioners, professionals, High School dropouts. Everybody knows something about something, has knowledge, passion, hobby and experience from the job or profession, can take that experience and turn it into significantly profitable on-line Home Based Business with no special skills needed. Relevant business training and money management is in most cases available for no cost or very minimal fees.

5. Access to national and international, global markets ---
Opportunity to conduct your business on all levels â locally, state or province wide, coast to coast in Australia or Japan, worldwide; independency from local, regional or countryâs economy situation, choice to live anywhere we desire, small town, by the lake, farm, top of the mountain, on the beach in Hawaii, anywhere where Internet connection is available.

6. Residual income ---
No more trading our time for money; target marketing that works for you 24/7/365 will bring results, sales and income even when you sleep or enjoy your vacation. In case of involvement in Network Marketing, through the team work of many worldwide, your group working hours can extend thanks to compounding to unlimited hours in one work day! Leverage and Metcalfâs Law in itâs full force!

7. Significant tax advantages ---
The same write-offs as corporations; lower taxation rate; part of the mortgage write off; travel expenses; even family vacations; legal use of tax shelters abroad or off-shore.

8. Ethics and Values, that in corporate world are following the path of dinosaurs ---
Life with passion and purpose; leading and showing others how to succeed; teaching critical life skills such as how to become debt free and financially independent; global movement of spreading knowledge, for knowledge is power and proper use of acquired knowledge represents financial freedom, relaxed well-being and most of all unique lifestyle that is simply unattainable in the corporate world.

i mean can a person if he/she is not 18 and he/she does not have parents living there..can that person go abroad?

Answer
Yes you can. I think you have to be over 16. Here's a program I recomend:

Rotary Youth Exchange.

Rotary Youth Exchange is one of the oldest and most reconized youth exchange programs in the world.

What's great about it is that within days of just looking into the program, you can make contact with a real person. Rotary clubs are all over the world and in most towns. By entering with the Rotary program, you will have a huge support system behind you making sure all goes well.

It's the cheapest too. Many other programs I looked into cost $10,000. But for me, for 11 months, it's merely $3000. I get room, board, education, transportation, and an allowance. I'll also be plugged into a support system of adults in the area.

Rotary has been around for so long and is highly reconized. They have encounted any problem that could possibly occur and know how to deal with it. In the unlikely case that something were to happen back at your real home, you could go home any day. They are prepared for emergencies.. although they hardly ever happen. You get a open ticket.. which means once you're over there, if somehting were to happen, you could hop on a plane and come home right away.

With Rotary, they don't just send you off and forget about you. You are assigned a counslour in your host country that will make sure all is going well.

You also get three host families... not one. Why is this better? This guarantees that you won't get stuck with a horrible famly for the entire year. You also will experience various aspects of a culture through this.

Some countries, such as Switzerland, will include a language camp before you head to school in your country.

There are connections everywhere... want to go somewhere? They can make it possible. Iceland, New Zeland, Turkey, India, Chile, Switzerland, France... you name it, they probably can get you there.

They take care of everything, insurance, travel tickets.

You will also be introduced to a world wide network of teens just like you! Just yesterday I went on a trip with a bunch of exchange students and exchange-students-to-be. We went on a day trip.. even though I had never met them before, it was one of the best days of my life.

I found myself running through the forest, making shelters on the beach, climbing trees, and playing soccer along with students from Germany, France, Mexico, Turkey, India, and many Americans. It was amazing. Instant connection. Why did we do all this? It wasn't like we had adults directing us to "build shelter now." We were jsut a fun bunch of teens who were all outgoing and wanted to have fun. We also got to ride to the Island which we did the activities on on Rotary owned Yachts... now that was nice. And since the owners were Rotary members, they were friendly and even let us drive the boat and make pyramids on deck while the boat was cruising along.

I have heard of AFS from many people, and it is highly reconized and quality service. The only reason why I didn't choose it was due to the high costs and the aspect that I only got one host family. I liked the support system and history that Rotary had to offer.

I would highly recommend Rotary for all that it has to offer...

~~ When you were a kid did you ever bring home treats for your mom , like salamanders , tad poles OR frogs ?

Dizz

Did it drive your parents crazy ? lol

Answer
That's kid stuff!

I would bring home grass snakes to play with from the beach. Cute little wigglers about 6 inches long each and a lovely shade of green. I can remember my Aunt gong nutsoid over a garden snake and chopping it into pieces with a shovel. I felt bad for the snake, yes, but it was the first time I had ever seen my gentle soft-spoken Aunt turn into a murder machine!

I brought home a baby woodpecker when I was 12. It had "fallen out of it's nest". I realise now that it was probably just being taught how to fly the "tough love" way! My Mom told me I had to take it back and I did. Put it back into the bracken at the base of it's own tree--scolded by Momma dear the whole time! I watched long enough to see that she was going to "take care of" her baby despite my interference!

There was a nest of jackrabbits in the lettuce patch. Watched them for three days (they were real small) waiting for their Mom who never showed up. Finally boxed them up and took them to a rescue shelter for wild animals.

A neighbour dragged home two really cute raccoon babies when I was about 14. She wanted to "keep them". After I finished giving her heck for removing them from their nest, she explained that she had been watching the babies for days and their Momma never showed. Finally the babies ventured out and came to HER to try to get fed! I talked her into allowing them to go to the rescue shelter for wild animals as well.

When I was 16 I raised a baby Robin from speckled youth to adulthood. The neighbour boy and his friend were trying to kill it by pelting it with stones. I told them I would be pelting THEM with stones if they didn't take off right then, and they did. (Me and that kid had a history that included him trying to rob a convenience store at 12 years of age -- I was 14 -- and my stopping him and his friend from doing that, plus making them clean up the mess they had made with the shelves and the produce before I arrived. Took proving to him that I had faster moves than him and would hurt him without thinking about it to get him to cooperate, but it worked!) "Robbie" grew to be a quite accomplished flyer taking off and flying around the front yard while I stood there encouraging her. I even taught her how to grub in the grass for her own insects for dinner... She left us one day in early fall. Just kept on flying farther and farther away until she didn't come back anymore.

I have pretty much stuck to domesticated animals otherwise.

Not the beach. I know there's Lake Del Valle in Livermore. Anywhere else? Places that you like?

Nearest camping with a lake would be Coyote Lake park, just fifteen minutes East of Gilroy. Water levels are good, this year, so there should be a lifguard montiored swimming area set up. But you'll have to check with the rangers to be sure.

What would be some good things for an Easter Party I am setting up for extended family?

Adamismyna

I am hosting one this year and I am 28, single. It will be kids but only 1 little kid (Easter Bunny aged) the rest are junior high and high school. Some will come and others might not but I wanted to make enjoyable activities.

Answer
List of things to do for an Easter Party

Mummy: Need rolls of toilet paper, one per person. You can form teams to see who is the fastest dressing their mummy (other person) or just let them have fun. This can be very messy with the dust from the toilet paper and the paper fight afterwards.

Picky Marshmallow Relay: Need toothpicks, one per child and one marshmallow per team. The marshmallow is placed on the end of the first persons toothpick. They hold the toothpick in their mouth and try to pass it to the next person in line using only the toothpicks in their mouths.

Clothes Pin 7-Ups: 7 clothes pins per person. Clip clothes pins on the backs of all players and have them face each other in a circle (outside). At the mention of "GO" they each run around trying to get the clothes pins off each others backs. No grabbing and holding on to the other persons.

Talent Show: Video the kids performing to music. Lip sync is fun or air guitar/sax etc.

Nighttime Easter Egg Hunt: Hide eggs and prizes outside. Everyone brings a flashlight to the party. Hide items like fingernail polish, body mists, not just candy.

Piggly-Wiggly: Everyone lays out their sleeping bags. Choose someone to be "it." They must leave the room. Everyone else hides inside the sleeping bags (not their own). When they are ready, "it" comes back in. She sits on one of the sleeping bags and says, "Piggly-Wiggly" the person inside says "oink, oink." 'It' must guess who is inside the bag. If they are right, the person in the bag is it.

Rock and Roll: When your having a slumber party and going to a roller-skating rink is out of the question, make a skating rink in the garage. Parents can back out their cars and take out other stuff in the way so there is room to skate. You can also have music and a snack bar!

Hip hats: Decorate denim hats with jewels and sparkle puff paints and wear them around the next day.

Puffy pillows: Decorate plain white pillowcases with puffy paint. Let them dry overnight.

Popcorn Toppin': Pop some plain popcorn. Give everybody a couple of dishes with popcorn in them. Have your guests put on all the toppings you want. For example, cinnamon and sugar, raisins, melted butter, pizza seasoning, and parmesan cheese to make a pizza kind o' popcorn.

Curly-Cute: Make rag curls in your friends' hair. Take pieces of fabric and wrap hair around them. When you wake up you hair will be all curly.

We Had A Ball: At the end of the slumber party, sit in a circle and sign beach balls with a waterproof marker. Write all about the good times you had together at the sleepover.

Burglar Alarm: Set a little timer and have everyone go out of the room. One person stays in and hides the timer. Then the other children come back in and try to find the timer before it goes off. Whoever finds it might get some kind of prize.

Set up a craft table to make bracelets.

Have a pajamas contest! See who has the best pajamas!

Watch some fun movies.

Pillow fights.

Make smores!!!!!!!!!!
Serve whipped cream and fruit on waffles in the morning.
See if you can borrow a kareoke machine so you can sing along to music.

Do makeovers!

Make rice krispie treats.

Make your own sundae!

Popcorn fights, if you have a vacuum handy.

Decorate some cutie pie cupcakes.

Play boardgames.

Decorate pillowcases with fabric markers...this way they can use them that night. Put on date, etc.

Shaving cream fight out side.

Play telephone.

Have a talent show!

Wacky fashion show!

Have a "theme" for the slumber party such as spa slumber party (perfect for all girls), spooky slumber party, survival slumber party, etc.

Do pedicures.

Think of unusual places to sleep: the attic, a tree house, a tent outside in your back yard.
Scavenger hunts.

Where is the best place to go canoeing and camping in Maine?

Answer
Schnurrbart has some great sites listed and Maine has hundreds and hundreds of miles of perfect trips.

You can find camping solutions from tenting on the beach of the ocean or river to renting out homes for a week on the shore.
The best place to go canoeing in maine, is wherever you can get to the water!

I personally love the saco river. The run from North Conway or Fryeburg to Denmark can be great. But don't forget you can go from the white mountains all the way to Camp Ellis in Saco Bay!
Watch out for Hiram Rapids in Spring....

A camp/canoe trip in Maine will never let you down, no matter where you go.

.... and don't forget to get all your fishing gear on the way ;) I know a guy...

Are there any gay resorts in your area?

Reef

Ogunquit Maine and Provincetown Massachusetts are getting boring for me.

Answer
Yes, there are heaps of them, you can choose from. You can go to the snow, a country retreat, the mountains or to the outback. Camp on and ride camels or horses along the beach, go hunting, swim with dolphins, stay on a deserted Island or Island resort. house boat, a cabin right on the beach, or get a tent a case of beer a couple of fishing rods and camp out over the weekend. Or hire a yacht, sail to deserted beaches. There are so many lgbt + gay friendly resorts up and down the coast. Within just two hours drive from me.

There is a large variety of resorts you can choose from, here's a few.

We've been dating for 2 years and I've decided we've grown close enough to pop the question... I bought the ring... Now the timing?..

Answer
My fiance took me camping. We went on a really nice hike and finally stopped at this clearing where we could see mountains and trees. It was gorgeous. The best part was that it had been foggy and over cast all day and as soon as we sat down in that clearing the sun came out. That night it stormed unexoectedky and we were huddled in our tent listening to the rain. It was very romantic and quite a good story! I always recommend nature as the setting because its free ambiance. A lake, beach, a gorgeous park, a nice hike somewhere. Bring a picnic and a couple champagne glasses (get sparkling wine if you can't afford the real thing.) And then just ask. I personally think too much fluff and scavenger hunts and hidden notes and hiding the ring in food is just silly. Proposals can be romantic with the right setting and the right words. No need for a bunch of props.

Can I use a pop up tent on Waikiki beach?

Ai_22192

The size of tent is good for 2 adults, basically use only for sun shelter and not the zip up camping kind of tent.
For those who wonder why I ask such a question, it is because we used a pop up tent on Virginia beach only to be told that it is prohibited and have to take are tent down immediately.

Answer
Yeah, no tent allowed at Waikiki, cause block eva body view, and can't stay onna beach ova nite, ok? But you can bring umbrella, or can rent from Beach Boy rental or Star rental rite on Waikiki or Kuhio Beach, they rite close to each otha, so same beach really, ok? Also, lotta good shade from Palm trees, so maybe not even need umbrella, ok?
Peace and aloha to you!

What are the major accessories I will need for camping besides a tent and Air Mattress?

xylem

I am a first time camper, yea I know it is sad but I have just purchased my coleman tent and air mattress and I was just wondering what other esential camping accessories I will need? Also, any camping tips would be most helpful! Thanks

Answer
My hubby and I just started tent camping with friends two years ago, and it took us a while to figure out everything we needed (btw, good start getting an air mattress!). Oh, and don't forget to waterproof your tent BEFORE the trip with waterproofing spray sold at sporting goods stores!

Here's my abbreviated packing list. You have some items already (obviously), but I've highlighted items you might still need to purchase:

SHELTER:

-Tent
-Tarp to Go Under Tent (should be the same size as tent base, not much bigger or you'll have to fold it under. This keeps the tent bottom dry, and you don't want rain collecting on the tarp and rolling under!)
-Air mattress
-Air mattress pump
-Sleeping Bags / Pillows
-Extra Blankets (1 per person in case of chilly weather)
-Beach Towel (for when you track mud all over your tent)
-Lantern (battery-operated) to hang in tent
-Foldable Chairs / Lawn Chairs (to sit around fire)
-Rope or Line to hang items to dry on - like wet towels

FOOD:

-Hand Axe (to chop fire wood)
-Long-reach lighters
-Fire-starting kindling twigs (buy them from camping supply stores - they're wood chips soaked in some fire-starting chemical)
-Pie Irons (to cook food in over the fire - these are ESSENTIAL!)
-Campfire Fork (to roast weiners, marshmallows on)
-Food (should include basics like eggs, bread, peanut butter, deli meats, cheese, butter, hot dogs, s'mores makings, pop, juice, tea, coffee, ketchup, mustard, brownie mix, pizza sauce, pepperoni, potatoes, oatmeal, beef stew, trail snacks, chips, popcorn, etc.)
-Campfire Cooking Pot
-LARGE Cooler with ice
-Egg Holder Storage Case (designed for camping trips)
-Plastic Utensils, Cups, Paper Plates
-Garbage Bags
-Giant Ziploc Bags (to place singed pie irons in when packing to come home)
-Sharp Knife
-Rubbermaid Tote to wash dishes in
-Dish Soap
-5-6 Dish Towels
-Campfire Glove (heatproof gloves that allow you to pick up hot logs off the fire, or hot pans)
-Mugs (for coffee & tea)
-Kettle to boil water (should be campfire safe)
-Bottled water - large quantities
-Picnic Table Cloth (campsite picnic tables are dirrrrrty!)
-Can Opener
-Travel Cutting Board
-Aluminum Foil & Ziploc Bags
-Non-Stick Cooking Spray

CLOTHING / HYGIENE / SAFETY:

-Standard clothes
-Extra socks, 1 pair extra walking shoes
-Rain coat, poncho, or garbage bags
-Bug Spray
-Sunscreen
-Usual Hygiene Products (forget shampoo if it's a short trip - you're allowed to be dirty when tent camping!)
-First Aid items (bandaids, benadryl, calamine lotion, antiseptic cream, aspirin, immodium AD, etc.)
-Hand Soap
-Towels (in case you get soaked in rain)
-Hand Sanitizer

FUN / OTHER:

-Deck of Cards / Travel Boardgame
-Camera / Extra Batteries
-Flashlights / Extra Batteries
-Fishing Pole / Tackle Box
-Lots of Cash to buy firewood near campsite - it's expensive!
-Wallet, ID, Cell Phone

Phew! It seems like a lot, but skip here and there and you'll be wishing you had these items when you're at the campsite. It's worth filling up the car with Rubbermaid Bins filled with this stuff. Oh - don't forget Rubbermaid Bins to put all this stuff in! You'll need to keep your possession and food waterproof if it rains!

Have fun!

What products are there to shade my infant on the beach?

sun+E

I'm going to visit my friend in Sydney for 15-20 days, and we're both college girls looking for some sun and fun.
We've decided to hang around Sydney (Bondi Beach and such), and then go to Melbourne, maybe check out the Ulruru rock.
If you had an itinerary like mine, how would you go about it? Would you drive to Melbourne, or fly there? What would you do in Sydney? Do you think going to Ayer's Rock is worth the time and money?
By the way, my budget is around 2000-3500 AUS dollars, though I don't know if this is being practical or not.

Your input would be greatly appreciated (and probably followed!)! Thanks!
We like shopping, maybe do some crazy things (on the safe side), watch the sunset, sort of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants kind of stuff, fyi.

Answer
Aww mate that sounds awesome, you'll love it here you really will.
Lets go through the cities.
Sydney - Sydney is really the "cosmopolitan" city of Australia. Great place for fun, lots of good night life, clubs, shopping, beaches and the biggest city in Australia. Sydney is a definately a must; especially for the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Bondi is a really good beach, but is a little talked up, and i suggest driving somewhere down on the east coast near Sydney (perhaps on your way to Melbourne) and find a beautiful quiet beach. If its in Australia - its gonna be an awesome beach. My top pick for a coast spot is Byron Bay...also notorious for its fun. (Very popular college party spot). But in Sydney just try to have a good time.

Melbourne - Personally, my favourite city in Australia, and ive lived in every capital city in the country. Its a little different from Sydney, i see it as a little nicer and clean and of course the home of the nations version of football - AFL. Melbourne has some of the best FASHION in the country, and there are alot of great sales going on all the time. My pick for the best shopping city in Australia. Also, not sure if you've heard of it but it is the filming location for "Neighbours", Australia's favourite soap which is successful in the UK as well, not to mention Rove - Australia's favourite talk show. My tip is to go to Lygon St - it has the best food in the entire city, and is famous for it ;). The main thing to do in Melbourne is shop and eat :).

Now, for the travel question, if you want to drive to Melbourne from Sydney, it will take about 10 hours in the car. If you wanted to make a road trip out of it i suggest staying one or two nights in Canberra (the nations capital, and where i live right now :D) to break up the driving and to see the Capital of Australia. TIP: if you have time, and if you decide to go to Canberra, i suggest driving down Anzac Parade. Its so beautiful, behind you is the National War Memorial while in front of you across the lake is Parliment House. Plus down Anzac Parade it has the memorials to all the different wars. Also, to see the city at night (which is actually quite stunning) drive up Red Hill which also has a very nice restaurant on top of it. Or Black Mountain, where you can view the city from the revolving restaurant in Telstra Tower. Canberra is really a place for tourist attractions and relaxing, its not a very big city but is interesting if you have time to explore it.

Brisbane - Now, just putting it on here that you may have the time or many to visit Brisbane (my home town) or as the locals like to call it - Brisvegas. It is truly an awesome city, and is home to the best beaches, hot surfie guys, and theme parks including Dream World, Movie World, Sea World and WetnWild. Brisbane's beaches are that great it even has a huge mass of skyscrapers on the beach called "Surfers Paradise". Brisbane is especially notorious for its laidback people and friendliness and the HEAT :) it is very warm here in Summer.

Flying would definately be a shorter trip, but driving will show you some of Australia's really traditional country towns and landscapes and the road from Sydney to Melbourne is the best for this.
Now for the Uluru question. Honestly, i have never been to Uluru which is a huge shame because i would love to go, but i have been around the area and have camped out in some of the most remost parts of the Australian desert and i can tell you that its an experience :) Swimming in water holes, waking up with kangaroos outside your tent, and just exploring is awesome and why i love the country. In saying this, Uluru is a fair way from the East Coast (Sydney) and even further away from Melbourne so it will take like you said time and money to get there. Unfortunately, having never gone there i cant really answer that question. But i recommend you take another trip to Australia to visit Darwin in the Northern Territory which is great fun and is home to Kakadu - an excellent national park. But be warned - it is also home to ALOT of crocs :| And then from Darwin do the trip to Uluru.
But of course the Northern Part of Australia will have to wait for another time :)
P.S - Take the time to go to one wildlife park either in Sydney or Melbourne, to see the native animals ;)

Ive been around a fair bit (ive lived in Germany and visited Paris, London, Amsterdam etc lots of countries in Europe) and i have been amazed at the sheer size of some of these places. Yet Australia is the kinda place you can call home sweet home.
Wherever you go in Australia you will be recieved with open arms :) Everyone down here is super friendly and we love to meet and help foreigners. If you want to know what to do in the cities you go, just ask a local on the street, and they'll tell you whats happening around the area. Not to mention all the hot surfie boys we have around our coasts :)
My top tip - See as much as you can, and have as much fun as you possibly can take.
I hope this helps, and if you need anymore tips just give me a yell.

See ya later mate, from down under
xxx

P.s - Heres a map so this makes a little more sense to you. Note the Northern parts i was talking about (Darwin, Kakadu) And the distances between Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

Where in the WORLD should I live?

Alex

I'll be 18 in a couple of years and I am trying to decide where I should live in the future (I really want to do a lot of hands-on humanitarian work so I can't imagine staying in the wealthy USA).

Right now I am considering somewhere in the area of Darwin-Australia as it is right along the coast (where I can surf, swim, and sail {the idea of crocodiles in all the major waterways does scare me a little bit though}) and is also relatively close to the Australian Outback (dry, rugged terrain = mountain bike paradise for me). And it would be close enough to Asia for me to travel there regularly and do some humanitarian work. Plus, I've been to Brisbane and Sydney a few times and have been in love with the country as a whole my entire life (though I don't think I'd really want to live in cities as populated as those).

If you know of any similar places ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD that would fit my criteria (a coast for water recreation, large rugged area for mountain biking, easy accessibility to 'needy' countries for humanitarian work), please let me know of the specific country, region, and city.

Also, don't rule out places IN third-world-countries as these would be perfect for humanitarian work and I'd imagine cost of living would be rather low (security might be an issue though).

I don't hope to live a luxurious life as I plan on spending nearly all my money to help others (my home could be a tent for all I care, in fact, I think I'd actually like that so long as the location is nice).

If you know of any places, let me hear 'em.

Thanks.

Essentials for taking baby to the beach?

best uv beach tents image

edm627

My son is 3 months old, will be 4 months by the time we take him to the beach, What are the essentials that we need (besides sunblock :)? A tent? A baby pool? Insect netting??

Answer
I would bring the following in this order:

Baby sunblock- you can now buy organic baby sunblock, but I don't know if you can use it on a 4 month old. As your pediatrician. Otherwise, dress him in light white cotton onzie and keep him in the shade - you could make sure your unbrella is a "sun unbrella" and treated to prevent UV rays etc. . .

A bottle of fresh water and a clean dry washcloth in a zip lock baggie. This will be important if he gets any sand in his eyes accidentally and you need to rinse his eye out. Mine were grabbing at everything including the sand at that age.

Enough food/water/bottles

Diapers/wet wipes- they sell disposable swim diapers that might be nice too- if you plan on going in the water with him, although he probably can just wear nothing in the swim trunks.

A plastic garbage bag for dirty diapers.

A hat to shade from the sun (if he'll keep it on)- babies have sensitive eyes- especially if they are blue still.

A sheet/ or "neat sheet" to lay on.

A sun unbrella or tent for the family- I suggest you dig a little cove/hole for him to lay in and cover it with a towel. You could even wet it a little. I found that to be very cool and comfy for mine when we took our boys at that age.

Maybe a spritzer bottle with a fan if he likes it and it's going to be hot.

If you are going to the beach and it's not in the mangroves or everglades etc. . . I do'nt think you'll need insect netting- I guess it depends on the beach.

Baby powder- this really helps to get the dry sand off the skin easily I've found.

Towels

A Camera (in a protected plastic bag)- to record those precious moments- if you aren't going to leave your bag on the beach

Extras: a little bucket to put some water or toys in for him to splash in.

The baby pool is a bit awkward and he'll be a bit young for it I think. . .but maybe a little blow up duckie bathtub would be nice- I like those because they are softer and easier to store.

what can i bring to keep my baby out of the sun while we go to the beach?

Kiki

Answer
You can take a hat, sunglasses & sunblock for baby. They have tents specifically made for this reason. Here are a couple links. Most of the tents have UV protection and some you can use with a pack & play, if you want to cart it to the beach. Otherwise you just set it up, zip it up & let baby play with some toys inside! Even better, I have seen other ones that come with a fan inside!

Is it fair to call the tent cities for the homeless that are popping up "Obamavilles"?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the media but more and more homeless encampments are being created all over the country as we power dive into a depression. It's only been 30 months of decline under Obama, can't we call them "Bushhitlerchimpvilles" instead?

Answer
If you want credit for the thing you do right you have to Man-Up and take responsibility for the failures as well, so yes I think O-Town's would be correct, you can bet that the same people living in those tents will be voting Dem in 2012 cause the Dems will be offering free WI-Fi and cable vouchers if you vote Dem-witted.

what california beach campgrounds aren't closed?

linda m

Ive looked on reserve America and all of them say closed July i wanna go camping this weekend at a beach but i cant find any does anyone know of any i can camp at with a tent and not on a island
i went onto the website and said 70 campgrounds in California will be closed in july all the beach ones it has more info on it i called too and they said that they are building something

Answer
They are not "closed" they are full. If you want to go camping this weekend, you should have booked on Jan 1, 2012. Reserve America camping start accepting reservation on the 1st of the month, 7 months in advance (that would make Jan 1, 2012). All beach campgrounds fillup VERY QUICKLY. For summer months, they might be filled by noon of the first day of reservations.

You can look at some private campgrounds. There is one in San Diego Mission Bay. There is one across from the beach in Ventura and another very close in Santa Barbara.

We're taking our Jack Russell Terrier tent camping for the first time. We'll be in the Adirondacks. Any suggestions?

Answer
it is soooooo much fun camping with your dog, we take ours all the time.

Things to remember are

1. Drinking water, even if the camp site has this avail we do bring water from our own taps for the dog to prevent tummy upset.

2. We carry a mini puppy first aid kit with us when we are camping, just incase something happens that causes discomfort (ticks, insect bite, vegitation irritation etc)

3. a week before we leave we apply frontline plus to help prevent ticks, and carry and extra dose of this for reapplication if needed.

4. alot of camping grounds that are happy to have dogs on premisis still request that dog is on lead at all times, this can be hard to do 24 hours a day so we also carry a long line and pegs that we can stake in a shady area.

5. We also take an elevated bed for Kato so he can rest out of reach of the creepie crawlies that may be on the ground.

7. We have him sleep in the tent with us so there is no chance of him trying to hunt down the native nocturnals (dont want to get him in trouble)

8. Have all your dogs brushes or combs at hand so you can brush out any vegitation, sand or dirt that gets stuck in fur and skin which can cause discomfort and irritation.

9. Our boy is a long coated dog, and feels the heat. We also carry for him cooling vests that can be dampened in a near by creek or the ocean to help keep him comfortable.

10. At the end of the day, throuroghly check your dogs fur and skin to make sure that there is nothing there to cause any irritation.

11. Food stored in hard to access bags, you dont want the native wildlife ripping open your dogs food. (we use a canvas zip up bag for dry food, that is designed for camping with dogs) and take smaller once only meal tins of food so we dont have to try and keep half an open tin for the next meal

HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN, ENJOY HAVING YOUR DOG ON A HOLIDAY WITH YOU, IT IS THE GREATEST BONDING TIME FOR YOU ALL. AFTER ALL YOU DONT HAVE TO BE WORRRYING ABOUT THINGS TO DO AROUND THE HOUSE OR GOING TO WORK!

Edited to add puppy camping pics

good luck and enjoy. it is worth the effort.

Questions about St John, US Virgin Islands?

GoArmy

I'm thinking of planning a trip there. Wondering what the best time of year is to visit? nicest weather? fewest ppl?
does it really get crowded? If I want to see the whole island, rent a car or take taxis?
also, advice on a place to stay, I'd like it to be nice, but not like a villa or something super expensive like that.
any other info or tips you could give me would be appreciated as well.
also, is there any place on the island where a 23 year old can rent a car?

Answer
The weather in the Virgin Islands is pretty nice year-round. I was there last September, (middle of hurricaine/rainy season) and although it did rain a little, it was by no means a wash out. There were just the usual short afternoon showers, then back to sunny skies. It stays warm all year, though it's smart to bring a light jacket or sweater for the evenings, just in case.

St. John was not at all crowded when I was there, in fact, my husband and I were the only ones on the most of the beaches we went to. We stayed on St. Thomas and ferried over to St. John for one day.

Since St. John is mostly a national park, there aren't too many resorts on the island. The ones that are there are pretty high-end. (Namely Caneel Bay and the Westin St. John - $$$$$!) I've never stayed at either place, but I've heard only really wonderful things about both of them. There are also a couple of eco-tourism campgrounds where you can rent a canvas tent-cottage. But that's basically camping, though not quite as "rough."

Actually, there are a number of villas that, depending on the number of people you are taking, may actually come out cheaper than staying at a resort, especially if you'd need more than one room.

This link has lots of good information on both hotels and villas:

I must say that St. John is absoultely, positively, the most beautiful place I've ever been, and I've done a fair amount of traveling. If you do decide to go, you'll love it. Since most of the beaches are within the Virgin Islands National Park and are protected, they're completely unspoiled. The people are super nice, and the two little towns (Coral Bay and Cruz Bay) are charming and filled with neat little shops and quaint restaurants. If you like cooking, I suggest a stop in St. John Spice, right next to the ferry dock in Cruz Bay, to check out some of the local spices and hot sauces. If you want to hop over to St. Thomas for some "real" shopping, it's just as 20 min. ferry ride, $5.00 a person.

As far as renting a car, there are Jeep and car rental stands all over the place in Cruz Bay, where you get off the ferry. (St. John doesn't have an airport so you'll fly into St. Thomas and ferry over to St. John.) I'm not sure about age limits, though. St. Thomas has more national car rental places, though there are rules about cars going between the islands. The best advice I can give you about that would be to call the VI branches of the rental places and ask.

Anyway, I hope you decide to go. It's a beautiful island and you'll have a blast!
